The University of Michigan's sports teams are called the Wolverines. One of these varsity sport teams is the Michigan Wolverines ice hockey team. The Michigan Wolverines ice hockey team is participating in the National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA Division I-A and also in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association or CCHA.
Michigan Wolverines hockey team wasn’t an underdog in the NCAA Tournament .The Michigan Wolverines hockey team were usually a favorite. The Michigan Wolverines hockey team posted eight consecutive seasons of 30 or more wins from 1990-1997. In that time, the Michigan Wolverines hockey team advanced to six Frozen Fours and won two national titles. The 1996-97 team was particularly dominant - led by Hobey Baker Award winner Brendan Morrison, Michigan Wolverines hockey Team compiled a 35-4-4 record and scored at least seven goals in a game 15 times.
The Michigan Wolverines hockey team has the following records: 7 time CCHA champions (1994, 1996-97, 1999, 2002-03, and 2005), an 8 time CCHA regular season champions (1992, 1994-95, 1997, 2000, 2002, and 2004 to 2005), and a 9 time NCAA champions (1948, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1964, 1996, and 1998).
The Michigan Wolverines hockey team now: Zero 30-win seasons - in fact, the Michigan Wolverines hockey team had its worst team in a decade. The Michigan Wolverines hockey team won just 25 games and broke a run of four straight Frozen Fours by falling in the quarterfinals. After losing in the quarters again the next year, Michigan Wolverines hockey team returned to the Frozen Four last season and made it two in a row this year. Not too shabby, especially in comparison to the basketball team, but not nearly up to the standards that previous Michigan Wolverines hockey teams had set.
